A great au pair is someone who genuinely enjoys working with children and is dedicated to fostering their growth, well-being, and sense of wonder—but there’s more to it! To qualify for our live-in childcare program and meet essential immigration requirements, candidates must meet the criteria below:

What does it take to be an Au Pair?

  • To qualify for the correct Youth Mobility Visa, Working Holiday Visa, or Residence Permit, Au Pair applicants must be between 18-30 years old. For some countries, the age limit is 25 or 35. We will confirm eligibility for your selected country.

  • Applicants must hold a valid passport from a country eligible for a Working Holiday, Youth Mobility, or Residence Visa in their host country.

    Australia – Working Holiday Visa

  • Applicants should be active, caring, independent, capable, adaptable, and open-minded, with a genuine passion for cultural exchange and working with children.

  • Applicants must have some childcare experience, whether as an au pair, babysitter, mother's helper, child educator, daycare or camp attendant. This experience must be supported by personal or professional references.

  • Applicants must provide certification of excellent physical and mental health from a licensed physician.

  • Applicants must provide evidence of a clean criminal record.

  • Families typically prefer non-smokers and individuals with minimal visible tattoos who lead an active, screen-conscious lifestyle.

  • As part of the visa requirements, applicants must demonstrate access to sufficient savings while living abroad. The required amount varies depending on their citizenship.

Please Note: A full driver’s license can be required for certain families and locations but is not mandatory for all placements.
